What’s on Your Menu for Thanksgiving?

ThanksgivingWith Thanksgiving right around the corner, I finally decided what I will be cooking. I’m tired of the same old thing! I normally cook a turkey, ham, collard greens, dressing (or stuffing, whatever you call it); homemade mac, mashed potatoes, and I mix it up for dessert.

This year, turkey, a roast, cheese over broccoli and cauliflower, homemade mac, dressing, and mashed potatoes. For dessert I’ll make a sweet potato pie and a peach cobbler. Sounds good doesn’t it? I suppose I better get some recipes posted for you.

Now I want to know what you’re cooking, or eating for the holidays. Do you do the cooking, does another? Please share how you’re doing Thanksgiving this year with us by commenting below, maybe you’ll inspire us to make our holiday that much better by giving us tips.

  1. Well, I don’t know if I can inspire with any tips, but our Thanksgiving usually ends up being celebrated on a day other than Thursday. My husband’s birthday is right around this time and actually falls on Thanksgiving Day every few years. His parents usually come to visit from out of state, so that plays a role in determining when we’ll have our “big” meal. :) And, since my husband really likes homemade gumbo, sometimes we’ll have that instead of the traditional fare.

  2. Gumbo sounds great! The holiday’s are pretty casual for us as well. Sometimes we have to switch up days, like for Christmas we have joint custody of my step children and we decided Christmas Eve we would celebrate since their mom has them the actual day of. It works.

  3. Mama

I work with homeless folks in Sacramento and every Thanksgiving and Christmas agencies go all out all over the place for about a week. This year we added a Safe Ground Thanksgiving this week for the SG campers and board members. Thanksgiving day I’ll go to my son’s and his father’s house and help them cook a turkey and simple fare. The snacks before the dinner is what we do special.
