Candy in her NOSE… Three Ways to Solve

Three ways to get candy out your child's noseOh boy, I haven’t been through this in awhile? Candy in the nose, my dear Yissie this time. It’s been a good 12 years since I dealt with a young one putting candy in their nose. Yup, Renae did this as well when she was the same age. The other kids lacked the desire to have a piece of bright burning candy in their nose. It has to burn.

Well this piece of candy wasn’t too big, she was able to blow her nose and it came out! But what if it didn’t come out… What do you do? Well, I can tell you what you don’t do first! Don’t stick anything in your child’s nose in hopes to get it out; you may push it in further.

Three ways to get foreign objects out of a child’s nose:

  1. Have your child blow their nose by plugging the nostril that doesn’t have an object in it and have your child blow.
  2. Help your child sneeze, again if you can plug the nostril that doesn’t have an object in it. How do you help your child sneeze? Smell a bit of pepper, not sniff, SMELL!
  3. If all else fails, knowing some kids are too young to cooperate, you can cover your child’s mouth and the unaffected nostril, quickly blow (not too much pressure) into your child’s mouth, this is quite effective but is noted best done by a medical professional because spreading infection or blowing too hard can cause complications.

If these tips didn’t work, take your lil’ one to the doctor or call a medical professional. I hope these tips save you a trip to the hospital and another medical bill.

If you have any other tips or if these tips helped please share by commenting below. Thanks

Birth Weight Health Risk & My Experience

A 19 pound baby? Are you serious? Have you seen the recent news of the woman in Indonesia who had a 19 pound baby? What a miracle!?

I thought my babies were big. My smallest baby was one ounce shy of being 9 pounds, and my biggest baby was 10 lbs 1 oz! We have big babies here at the Reed house!

Health risk comes from having big babies. The only baby I had zero complications with was my smallest, Sinya. My last, Yissie, could’ve been fatal for her or me.

Having Yissie, put a stop to my baby making days for sure! A week before having her I could hardly breathe laying in bed, trying to induce her early was a failure! When she was ready to come, it was a frightening experience. Come time to push! Low and behold! At least 10-15 doctors ran in the room, one knocking over the big bulky monitoring system. My baby was so broad, she was stuck, and her shoulders weren’t making their way out!

My husband couldn’t take it, he runs out the room, doctors are shouting, my visitors crying, my mother in law shouts “the devil is a lie!”, and the only one that would watch the ordeal pan out is my own mother.

One doctor yells at me, to “PUSH”… This isnt a regular request to push, this was a “your life depends on this” push! Now they have her shoulders out, she is still stuck! A few doctors are now trying to inch my babies’ torso out by turning her from side to side!

Once things calmed down, they take my baby from me, her blood sugar is low! Now that her blood sugar is fixed, the doctors are concerned with my health! My blood pressure was too low and temperate too high. I’m told I could hemorrhage, or have an infection. With my symptoms and the fact I had a large baby, I was to not get out of bed. I must wait, and watch my health get better or worse!

Of course, Im fine. I’m here today! You’re baby can be small, or large! Health risk comes with the territory! Giving birth to any baby can pose complications! This woman in Indonesia with a 19 pound baby, she experienced nothing less of a miracle! Click here to read more about this miracle.

How Do You Cope With Illness?

229529792_47a10f237eSurprise! Surprise! I actually went to my doctor’s appointment today. Maybe it’s just me, but I miss most of my own appointments, making the best for the kids.

Since February 2008, Ive been dealing with, almost, constant dizziness. Not “Vertigo dizziness”, nothing is spinning for me, it’s more like “I’m drunk” dizziness. Somedays I feel as though I had a single glass of wine, some-days I feel as though I drank a whole bottle of wine. Without the benefit of the great taste of wine, no thrills here.

My feelings of being drunk, without the drinking part, was worse. I have gotten better since last March. I feel drastically different. I used to have these strange body shakes, walk into things and stagger at times, lose my thoughts or where I was in conversation, cooked clumsy, and just felt all together odd at times. I used to have a feeling of displacement, mentally, like I was under some heavy medication. My level of fatigue has let up since, as well. I used to need to lay up in the bed for hours in the day. I don’t need that anymore, and I no longer walk into walls like a staggered drunk. I’m doing a lot better. I can be productive again.

To date, I’ve had an extensive workup with Kaiser Permanente hospital, my diagnoses thus far is “possible MS”. Well, you cant just go to the doctor and take a test, and then know for sure if you have MS. It takes years sometimes before finding out. My next test is a spinal tap. So, what’s the hold up? My medical insurance has changed, so my new doctor has to read all of my previous workups, and then decide what he thinks is best for me.
