Wordless Wednesday: Love Yourself!

Accepting Compliments
Category Self Awareness
Nowadays we are all of us so hard up that the only pleasant things to pay are compliments. – Oscar Wilde
Our self awareness series discusses the entry by Sarah Ban Breathnach for October 19th, in her book, Simple Abundance, A Daybook of Comfort and Joy quotes the above statement.
We all love to hear compliments. I once told my husband that I felt like I was his cancer. Not that he has cancer, just that I felt that I meant to him what cancer would feel like to him had he had cancer. Bold statement, I know!
I only felt this bad because he would focus on the negative. Some people just get things done that way. I tend to focus on positives. Hearing what you do wrong all day isn’t a walk in the park. I don’t want to hear negative if you have anything positive to say. If you provide both then we can talk.
With that said, is this his fault? Breathnach reminds us that we often let people know we don’t want compliments.
Husband: Your hair looks nice!
Wife: Not really, I spent 45 minutes on it…
Friend: You’re so sweet to me!
Self: Not really, I like doing stuff like this.
Just say thank you when a compliment is given to you. Goodness! When we don’t accept compliments from those that give them to us, people decide you don’t want the compliment. Then you’re sitting up somewhere in a bad mood wondering why people don’t acknowledge all that you do for them.
They love you and very thankful for you, I’m sure of it. Sometimes we just make it harder for others to show us. Accept compliments and give them often, daily even! You should see a difference in your attitude and others around you.
Who are you thankful for and why? Can you pay them a compliment today?!

Tweep ML Not #FollowFriday
Category All Things Techy
I’m not using #FollowFriday on Twitter anymore, the last two Friday’s I used an application called TweepML instead. If you aren’t aware what #FollowFriday or TweepML is here is a little breakdown:
Brief breakdown of TweepML and #Follow Friday for Twitter users:
- “TweepML is a simple format to make it easy for people to share a list of Twitter users” (according to TweepML)
- Every Friday twitter users use the hash tag #FollowFriday (some use #FF) to list their favorite tweeps recommending these tweeps to others. I like to add a reason for my tweeps to follow my favorites in my tweet, i.e. Homeless Issues, engaging, makes me laugh, etc…
Why I use Tweep ML instead of #FollowFriday
- Easy to use – I create a group of tweeps, name the group so others know what sets them apart from the rest, and if I want to I can write a side note on a particular tweep (name, or why they are special)
- Not redundant – I share a link to my favorites and can list user after user. These usernames aren’t broken down into numerous tweets. One link, one tweet per group and it’s that simple.
- Easy to follow my favorites – tweeps can follow all my favorites or be selective still all one click once decided which to follow. With Follow Friday you have to click the name of who you want to follow, click follow, and then go back to the list to see if there are others you would like to follow.
- No unnecessary noise – it’s not spammy at all.
- You can use TweepMl anyday not just on Friday.
The only drawback of TweepML, my tweeps have no idea that I’m spreading love their way unless they follow the link themselves but with #FollowFriday my recommendation shows up on their mention screen so they’re very aware.
With that said here are my favorite tweeps using TweepML:
Educated Me (Mostly blogger stuff)
Enlightens Me or Makes Me Laugh

Time is of the Essence!
Category Reed Tidbits
Day in and day out, we handle our day as if it’s just another day. Grabbing our to-do list, finishing our goals for the day, not getting enough sleep, leaving our spouse to fall asleep on their own, and at times forgetting to tuck our children in for bed, forgetting time is of the essence.
Time is of the Essence. I say this because we’ve had our wake up call! My husband received a phone call this morning that his old friend, whom he hasn’t spoke to in years, passed in a car accident this morning. This man is but 37 years old, if that! His children have lost their father, if he had a significant other, she no longer wakes up to him, or falls asleep with his warmth.
My point is this; we get so caught up in time… Too often, I sleep in bed with the kids, and my husband is on the couch. Too often, we don’t speak about life; we only speak about what is necessary to run the house. Too often, we brush the kids off, because we are busy. Time is of the essence. It’s time to put down our to-do list and put down our pride, just for a few moments out the day, and remind our loved ones that we’re truly there for them.
Have you told your good friends you were thinking about them lately? Is there someone out there that you should reach out? Maybe, there is that one person that you need to forgive. Have you spoken the words of love to your family lately, in action, not in words? Let’s all be sure to not lose sight of time, and remind those around us how special they really are.

Making You Love Zucchini
Category Reed Cooks
Simple recipe… This recipe is yummy, a bit spicy, so simple that my 10 year old makes, and this recipe made my kids appreciate zucchini. Do I need to say more?
Ingredients: I don’t measure so this is approximate
Zucchini; 2 cups
Crushed red peppers; 1 tablespoon
Pepper; sprinkle as desired
Seasoning salt; sprinkle as desired
Butter or oil (I prefer butter); 2 Tsp
Optional; 1 Hot link
- Grab your pan, and heat your butter or oil at medium high
- Add your crushed red peppers, while heating butter or oil
- Cut hotlink in bite sizes, and add to pan
- Cut zucchini a bit thick, and bite size (see picture), and add to pan
- Add seasoning
Note: Once Zucchini is a bit transparent near the center, yet still crisp (about 5-7 minutes), serve… Serves approximately 4 people
Enjoy, and comment on your thoughts about the dish, or if you have a zucchini dish that we should be trying!

My oldest daughter, Renae, made a statement today that turned into the evaluation and analyzation of the two words, respect and love.
I was talking with Renae, I questioned her respect for me. It seems like I always have to tell her twice, or more, when it comes to doing a simple task. The fact she always has a rebuttal to what comes out of my mouth is an issue at hand, as well. She stated that she loved me, so naturally that meant she respected me.
When I say love, I dont mean “love all mankind” kind of love. Im talking about the love “that moves mountains” kind of love. The love you have for your true family and friends is much different then the love we have for your neighbor.
