One Stop Shop: Car Care Information with RepairPal.com

Posted 23 Feb 2010 — by Jennifer
Category Reed Reviews, Time & Money

Ford F-150Car Care information is vital in selecting a car to purchase, in up keeping your current car, and in being able to find affordable repair services when your car needs attention. A one stop shop for all your needs is RepairPal.com. These days are busy for most of us and we are all trying to save that extra dollar. Just having a good resource for our vehicle needs will help each of us to save time and money.

To show you what RepairPal.com has to offer and to test out their site myself I searched their database for a 1999 Ford F-150. I found out so much about this powerful beast of a truck. Clickable from my search are reviews and ratings from owners showing pros and cons of their experience, a questions and answer forum, common problem information, recall information, repair cost, finding the best shop for your needs, a buyable search, and much more.

I know I already gave you tons of benefits found on RepairPal.com but I’m not quite done. Let’s say you need repairs and you don’t know where to go. RepairPal.com has a directory for auto shops. I set a search by zip code and my car’s make and tons of options came up for shops that specialize in my vehicle. Another great tip in regards to finding a shop is there is an  estimate tab on their tool bar and it takes you to a great tool perfect for car repairs. Search for your car, the symptom of your car, and enter your zip code from the estimate tab and you will find price estimates, advise and the best shop for what you entered in your search.

Just for kicks, my check engine light is on in my car currently. I wanted to see what RepairPal.com could tell me that I didn’t know being I’m pretty knowledgeable about cars. RepairPal.com advised me what it means and gave me sound advise due to my check engine light being on, let me know how serious of a problem this may be for my car, and advised me what could cause my check engine light to be on.

I have many friends and family members that will benefit from this site. I believe sending them to RepairPal.com will change the tone of things in my household. My husband will get less calls from those that just don’t get it and he will find the information on this site very useful. Friends, this is a sponsored post but I truly mean every word I have posted here. Such a great site with so many tools and I wish I had access to this site many years ago. To think of the money and time I’ve wasted searching for the right answers. I hope you find this site as much as a benefit as I do. Please check out RepairPal.com and let me know what your thoughts are by commenting below.

10 Ways to Cope with Stress

Posted 09 Oct 2009 — by Jennifer
Category Self Awareness

“In this world without quiet corners, there can be no easy escapes…from hullabaloo, from terrible, unquiet fuss. – Salman Rushdie

Our self awareness series entry by Sarah Ban Breathnach for October 9th, in her book, Simple Abundance, A Daybook of Comfort and Joy quotes the above statement.

I must say, today would be the day I wish you had the book in front of you! Breathnach’s list of ways to relieve stress goes on and on… (on and on in a good way)!

Here are a few of my favorite ways to cope with stress on Breathnach’s list along with my jibber jabbering dissection of some of her tips:

  1. Keep it simple – We create much of the stress around us. Simplify your duties and you will avoid much stress.
  2. Go to bed at nine o’clock at least twice a week – I find myself staying up late researching ways to better Reed What Matters or by networking on twitter. If I go to sleep early a few nights a week I can handle this, if I stay up late each night I’m a walking zombie by the end of the week. Overworking yourself is bad for your family, your business, and your soul.
  3. Keep your house picked up – To wake up to an orderly house, what a joy! This is harder if you have a large family, but it can be done. Have the kids pick up their mess before bed, and you hurry to get the dishes done, wipe your counters down, and clear your table. Even those few tasks will make a huge difference in your home.
  4. Stop trying to please everybody – I’m not going to say this again, we’ve went over this! You can try to please all to only please few, because they don’t have you whole. Don’t spread yourself out to thin. Better to be you and just displease a few!
  5. Start pleasing yourself – Don’t forget about you! If you are happy and well taken care of you will then be able to help others around you. A whole person can better help one who needs healing.
  6. Stay away from negative people – I have negative people in my life, don’t get me wrong. I love all my family and friends unconditionally but know them for who they are, positive and negative. Keep the negative people and the bad apples at a distance, but still love them all the same!
  7. Approach problems as challenges – I feel most liberated when bad news or big issues hits me in the face, and I conquer it! I say, “Take that, and NEXT!” Keep it moving!
  8. Savor beauty – What is positive in your life? What do you see when you walk out the door? When I walk out the door, I don’t see the ugly apartment buildings that surround me. I see the nicely shaped bushes, flowers, the leaf blowing in the wind, the rain puddles, or the big blue sky (depending on the weather). See the good and turn away from the bad!
  9. Create boundaries – Know when too far is too far, and when far enough is far enough! Keep your dignity and be you my friends!
  10. Search for your authentic self until you find her/him – Do you know who you are? Sure, you know what you like, what you don’t like, and what you do for a living, but do you know the true beauty and wisdom you possess. Do you know you? Find you!

I hope these tips helped.  I know I write or talk a lot. That’s part of my authentic self. I learned to embrace my jibber jabber.

If you have any tips for coping with stress, or making the day easier so stress doesn’t show up for the day please comment below. We all need pointers here!

    Comfort-Stretch Training Pants 2/$13.48

    Posted 04 Oct 2009 — by Jennifer
    Category Time & Money

I love Comfort-Stretch Training Pants, Walgreen’s brand! My two year old is potty trained but nap time and night time she has accidents. Diapers are too snug, so I decided to get training pants for sleepy time.

I started using Comfort-Stretch Training Pants about a month ago. I’ve used many regular diaper and training pant brands like Huggies, Pampers, Luvs, and Pull-Ups. At bedtime she needs extra protection.

My two year old is a big girl, at size 4T-5T in clothing; she needs nice fitted training pants. She loves to have a sippy cup close by at bedtime as well, this means she is bound to soak her bed up or leak through a basic training pants brand.

I would have to buy Pull-Ups overnight training pants to get it right. Last I seen a 21 count of Pull-Ups was $12.49 at Walgreens. Guess how much Comfort Stretch training pants are? They are normally $9.99 for the 26 count I purchased. Right now they are 2 packs for $13.48! That’s crazy!

I’m not sure how long this sale will be, it’s been this price for a few weeks. So act fast! No Walgreens nearby, you can shop online by clicking here (this is not a paid advertisement and if it was I would only endorse it if I found true value in it)!

    “A Time for Everything”

    Posted 28 Sep 2009 — by Jennifer
    Category Self Awareness

2251675635_e916fe0800Our self awareness series starts today. Day 1, starting with the entry for September 28th, Simple Abundance quotes:

    “A Time for Everything”

There is a time for everything. And a season for every activity under heaven.

    -Ecclesiastes 3:1

For starters, yes I’m Christian, and no, you dont have to be Christian to follow this series in self discovery, comfort, and joy. Daily quotes through this series are from Simple Abundance, A Daybook of Comfort and Joy. Sarah Ban Breathnach uses quotes and scripture from many sources, her book is the inspiration for this series.

With that said, let’s get started.

Keeping it simple, the author speaks of not always being able to do all things when wanted. You can set out to do all that your heart desires, you can truly make it possible, however, it may not happen all at once.

We may have a family, be students, own a business, or may be employees trying to climb the corporate ladder. Whatever your circumstance is, time consumes us and constraints our deepest desires. We should continue to keep our dreams alive even if our dreams may not be an option for TODAY! Our desires may be more suitable for tomorrow, or next season, or next year. Even if it’s not the right time, our deepest desires can be. Keep your dream alive; just know there is a time for all things.

An example, last year I was a full time employee trying to climb the corporate ladder, a full time student in Business Management taking online courses, and trying to brainstorm daily a new business venture I can take on myself, all the while trying to take care of my family. I was trying to take on everything all at once. This isn’t always the best way to do things, I burnt myself out quick!

Being there is a season for every activity, I’m now unemployed, and taking a break from school. More importantly, I’m taking time to slow down for my truest desires, owning my own business, and taking care of my family.

This season is the right time for my desires, next season that can change. Sounds backwards, don’t that? I say that it may change because I’m able to spend more time on my desires today, for my health caused me to be unemployed. Being unemployed gives me more time for my family and for running this website. I know I can make an income by branding our website, however, this is a new website and if finances don’t come in soon, I may have to go back to work if my family needs the added income.

That is what this passage teaches us. You can’t do everything under the sun all at once. However, you can do all things! Keep your dreams alive, set your goals (short term and long term), and remember there is a time for your needs and a time for your dreams!

Are you like me, with superwoman mentality? Can you slow down in some areas, and maybe speed up on others? What are your dreams? Don’t lost sight, chose the right time, keep your dreams, and make them come alive! Please share by commenting.

Hailey’s Dragonfly Garden Of Botanicals Review

    Posted 20 Sep 2009 — by Jennifer
    Category Reed Reviews

Visiting Hailey’s Dragonfly Garden of Botanicals website, I had no idea what to order first! Choices, Choices, Choices! From soaps for men, women, children, babies, and not just soaps! I decided to order what I know!

I ordered two soaps, and I must say I’m really impressed. Rose Milk, and Dreams of Dragonflies Soap – Sandalwood Vanilla are the two I ordered. With my order came a Cucumber Melon Soap sample as well. Here is my review on each of the soaps!

    Rose Milk Rose Milk

Rose Milk Soap, I always loved the scent of rose, soaps, lotions, oils… You name it. I love rose scents so much that my husband buys rose incense, and rose air freshener instead of some spring scent that would suit him better. Well, I have to say this soap is great. Not only is it beautiful, I love the way the soap has three layers, but it feels good on my skin. A lot of handmade soaps don’t lather well. Whatever Hailey’s Dragonfly Garden of Botanicals is doing in creating her soaps, she is doing it right.

Dreams of Dragonflies Soap - Sandalwood Vanilla
Dreams of Dragonflies Soap – Sandalwood Vanilla

I ordered Sandalwood Vanilla, so my soap wasn’t blue. You get the picture though. What I like about this soap is that it last! My kids sneak my special soaps; yes this is special soap… My daughter left both soaps in the bath water, why she had both of them, I’m not sure! Well, soap using turns to a gooey mess when left in tub water. Not the case with my new special soap. Of course, naturally, it shrunk a bit… But not like regular soaps. I will be ordering again, very soon!

    Cucumber Melon Soap

    Cucumber Melon Soap

This is the funny part, my husband hates handmade soaps! He smelled this Cucumber Melon Soap; I asked him, “Would you use it?” What do you know, he agreed that he would. This was just a sample, I have to order some more… Now get this, I later go to take my shower and it was used, by whom? My SON! Enough said.

Besides the soaps being so great, Hailey’s Dragonfly Garden of Botanicals offers great customer service, and fast shipping! Best of all, I now have a great friend, one in a million I tell you!

If you’d like to check out her creations, or purchase some of this great soap click here.

Review of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!: A Tail of Tails

    Posted 15 Sep 2009 — by Jennifer
Category Entertainment, Reed Educates, Reed Reviews

wowowI bought this DVD, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!: A Tail of Tails, a while back. The DVD consist of eight short films, that are packed with lessons. My toddler, who is two years old, loves this movie. It is by far, her favorite DVD!

Wubbzy is a lil’ yellow cartoon character with a crooked tail, he is funny, bouncy, and a friendly guy who at times gets into a little trouble with his curiosity and impulsive decisions.

Wubbzy’s traits create a good movie, his traits helps teach our young ones lessons in:

    • open-mindedness
    • honesty
    • friendship
    • liking oneself
    • helping others
    • self-restraint
    • responsibility

The only draw back of my recent purchase is hearing my two year old say, “I wanna watch Wow Wow!” This is a daily request. I guess that tells you that it’s a good movie.

If you would like to purchase the DVD for a low price you can here: Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!: A Tail of Tails
