My Top Commentators & This Great Widget

Posted 20 Oct 2009 — by Jennifer
Category All Things Techy, Reed Reviews, Reed Tidbits
topcommentatorI just added a nifty tool to Reed What Matters! Top Commentators Widget, it’s on our right sidebar to the bottom a bit. This tool tells everyone who comments the most on Reed What Matters website. I set it up to list the top 5 commentators for the last 90 days. I’m in love with this tool. I can now formally thank my top 4 commentators:

1. My Mama

Mama, I love you and thank you for reading my blog regardless of how busy you are! I thank you even more for leaving such great feedback in our comments. Everyone check her out! She is an amazing soul who does lots for our homeless community and for our climate. You can spot her efforts at: SafeGround Sacramento & SHOC!

2. Hailey’s Dragonfly Garden

My lovely friend with a sweet soul I met on Twitter! She is the reason I’m only formally thanking my top 4 commentators (she can’t decide if she wants to type her user name on our website as “Hailey’s” or “Haileys” so she stole two spots Ha-Ha!) She is always there for me when I need her to be, and she always reminds me to have a good day. She also has a fabulous website offering the best handmade soaps! Not only is her soaps the best, but they’re affordable. Check out my review and her site here: Hailey’s Dragonfly Garden of Botanicals Review & Hailey’s Dragonfly Garden.

3. Donna

Someone I’m very fond of. I found her on iMommyTalk.com. Most of her post I have to comment because the topics are great. She Vlogs (video blogs), I don’t always get to watch her videos because my home gets pretty noisy. She covers me there and types up a summery of her vlog. Still video or summery, COMMENT WORTHY!  Thank you Donna for a great website!

4. Toya

Another friend I met on Twitter. This lady here, she has a deep spirited soul. Go to her blog and you have to think. Soothing soulful music, content that enriches my soul, and I can’t wait… She is writing a book! Thanks Toya, for being you! Check her out here: Tales of Literary Nobody  (She is REALLY Somebody)

I will continue to show love to my top commentators, that means free advertising for you if you have a website or a business!!! And If you don’t, either way I want to show the love to those that show it to me! Thanks friends!

Bloggers, if you want this great widget click here: Top Commentators Widget

Enjoy!

SafeGround Sacramento’s Rally at City Hall

Posted 10 Sep 2009 — by Jennifer
Category Taking a Stand

SafeGround Sacramento went to City Hall today to have a peaceful rally to speak to our Mayor, City Council and City Manager to address the anti-camping ordinance, and to ask they provide “SafeGround, a legal campground for homeless people who have signed a pledge of no drugs, no alcohol, no violence.”

This is very touching, and needs attention. Here is a video to today’s events provided by Sacramento Loaves & Fishes:

Peaceful SafeGround Rally at Sacramento City Hall

Peaceful SafeGround Rally at Sacramento City Hall

When: Thursday, September 10, 2009 10 AM

Where: Sacramento City Hall 915 I Street – plaza

Why Hasn’t Sacramento Provided a Safe and Legal Place to Camp?

The number of homeless people has risen by 14% in just two years. Shelters are turning away hundreds of men, woman and children every night for lack of space. Why would we arrest people who have nowhere to go? Shouldn’t the city spend its money on housing for people rather than on jails? Criminalizing homelessness is unjust and solves nothing.
Please support the more than 1,200 homeless people who will sleep outside in Sacramento tonight and every night.

Come to the SafeGround Rally this Thursday at 10 AM at City Hall.

Ask our Mayor, City Council and City Manager to act immediately to:

1. Declare a moratorium on enforcement of the anti-camping ordinance. It is unjust to cite and arrest people who have nowhere else to go.
2. Provide SafeGround, a legal campground for homeless people who have signed a pledge of no drugs, no alcohol, no violence.

Let Safe Ground Sacramento Rest

Posted 24 Aug 2009 — by Jennifer
Category Taking a Stand

Safe Ground is leading the way for our homeless community to have a safe place to be. Who wants to be rousted by the police in the middle of the night? Who wants to wake up to a fight breaking out on the streets? Sleep is hard enough on a city bench, let alone, in a tent within Safe Grounds premises.

Being within Safe Grounds encampment, you have hope to not be harassed by the police, you can leave for the day to apply for work without shelter curfews, you can sleep knowing there won’t be drugs, alcohol, or fights breaking out, and affecting your personal safety. Hope is the key word here…

Making a Difference; Safe Ground

Safe Ground

Watching my mama, Paula Lomazzi, her inspiring journey in helping our homeless community, helped me to make an important step in my own life.

I’ve been home with health issues for almost a year. All I’ve done in this time was build more on my family foundation, create this wonderful website, potty trained my baby, and reached almost 1000 followers on twitter (funny, I know).

I need to do something valuable with my time; sure being a mom, blogger, and tweeter is valuable, but I need to be doing more. Knowing this, I signed up on Safe Ground’s website to be more involved. Since signing up to support such a great cause…

I’ve been given a great, inspiring, and fun task. I’m honored to be on top of such a task. I’m working with Costa Mantis, an Emmy award-winning filmmaker, in helping promote his documentary, Live From Tent City: The Last 21 Days. I’m honored, and not just because of his reputation.

I’m honored to help our homeless community in being heard. I’m honored to work with someone who is so passionatte about our homeless community. Visit some of his websites, and you’ll see first hand what I mean. (Costa Mantis Films & Live From Tent City)

Of great importance, I’m in “awe” that I’m working with my mama, might not be directly, but I’m working with her on what is so dear to her as well. If you want to support our efforts you can sign up at Safe Ground’s website, or you can purchase Live From Tent City: The Last 21 Days. Thank you for all your help!

Safe Ground Sacramento Listed Needs

Posted 14 Jul 2009 — by Jennifer
Category Taking a Stand

Safe Ground Sacramento aims to provide homeless a safe place, according to their website they are asking the “city to provide our homeless neighbors with the most basic human right – a safe place to be – and a safe place to rebuild lives – a place called “Safe Ground.”

In helping the homeless, Safe Ground needs tools to do what they do best. Safe Ground’s website list items of need. These items are a gas BBQ with propane tanks, … tents, blankets, sleeping bags, water, camping supplies, tarps” and donations.

Please visit their website, www.safegroundsac.org or follow them on twitter @safegroundsac to donate items or to keep updated on what changes are being made to help the homeless.

Thank you Safe Ground for all that you do!
